Bob Franke was a resident of La Crosse, Wisconsin. Bob lived the 91 years of his life in the home in which he was born. He and his wife, Eleanor, left an estate of more than $20 million, which has become the fund base for the Foundation which bears their names.

The Foundation is a non-profit Wisconsin corporation located in La Crosse, whose purpose is to support the La Crosse Community Foundation, Mayo Clinic Health System-Franciscan Healthcare and the Diocese of La Crosse. A portion of the earnings of the Foundation are undesignated and are available for distribution to IRC Section 501(c)(3) organizations throughout the Greater La Crosse area through grant applications which are available on this site, upon request.

Take a few moments to consider the Frankes' history and you will begin to understand the kind of people they were to leave such a legacy for generations to come!

3RD ANNUAL CARE & SHARE EXPO

Our 3rd Annual Care & Share Expo took place on December 7, 2013, at the City Brewery Hospitality Center in La Crosse. This year, the event was open to thirty-one (31) - IRC 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations which benefit the Greater La Crosse Area in Wisconsin. We were able to match over $27,000 this year! Many visitors made gifts to multiple organizations since they found it quite convenient to have so many worthwhile charities all in one place at one time. We also had over thirty attendees at our break-out lunch to hear about the new Franke Foundation sponsored Association of La Crosse Area Non-Profit Organizations (ALÁNO), and to hear well-known businessman and entrepreneur discuss the principles of Servant Leadership.

If you are interested in having a table for displaying your organization’s informational material at next year's event, please watch this site starting next October, for our new Application. All organizations will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Franke Foundation works to encourage non-profit organizations to join forces, communicate, learn about each other, share information and work together to create the greatest organizations possible to provide services for our La Crosse County citizens in need. It is also our mission to educate the public and make them aware of local Non-Profit organizations so they can get help or learn how to help. If you are an IRC 501(c)(3) organization and would like to maintain contact with other La Crosse Area organizations though the year and have an opportunity to win a monetary award, take a look at our ALÁNO site on this page.
